Look who it is! Ash is a fabulous Account Executive who joined our Client Services Team after taking a sharp turn from a previous career path. Now six months in, we sat down for a chat with Ash to get to know her a little bit better. Read our conversation below and find out why Ashleigh should probably leave the responsibility of office-DJ to someone else ...
What made you want to work with us?
I was ready for a change to a fast paced environment and was really keen to see what an agency was like. Whilst the initial introduction to Little Giant was by chance, it quickly became clear that the people and culture were awesome and LG was where I wanted to be!
What was your journey like to get you where you are?
At one point I was heading towards a career in aviation and spent three years at flying school. After a change in path, I ended up in an airline customer service role, then took a marketing position at a private members club in Auckland. It was in this role I figured out that I wanted my next step to be into a more digitally focused position.
Who in your life inspires you?
My dad. He’s always maintained a great balance between working hard and doing the things he loves. He’s shown me that nothing comes without taking risks and I’ve learnt a lot from him about how I want to set myself up for future years.
How do you prefer to learn?
By doing! Sometimes you just need to be thrown in the deep end.
What do you consider your greatest achievement to date and why?
My aviation qualifications - commercial pilot’s license and instructors rating. Even though I didn’t end up going down the aviation career path, I pushed myself during those years flying, gained a lot more confidence and it was pretty darn cool to get to fly everyday.
When it’s all over, how do you want to be remembered?
I would like to be described as someone who got s**t done, always kept things in perspective and had a good sense of humour until the bitter end!
What were the best six months you have spent working in your career?
Is it cliche to say the last six months here at LG?
*Editor’s note: No Ashleigh, no it is not.
What are you best known for?
My boat driving ability - people are always shocked to see me at the helm…
What do you know is true that no one else agrees on?
There is a chardonnay for every occasion.
What book do you think everyone in the team should read?
Never Split the Difference - an awesome read written by former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss.
Favourite 90’s jam?
I still have a soft spot for the Backstreet Boys - tragic.
