The Cancer Society provides a range of support and information for people affected by cancer around New Zealand and they rely on personal donations to operate. Intent on engaging a younger audience and creating a new revenue stream, CSNZ approached Matt, one of our Directors, with nothing more than an idea over a year ago. From there, Junk Free June was born.
We really caused a stir!
Since the campaign's inception, Junk Free June has taken the media by storm, gaining over 25,000 followers across social media platforms. With #junkfreejune being a trending topic Twitter, primetime coverage on national television news, numerous radio spots, print articles and other media circulating around, Junk Free June started with a very loud bang. As such, the website was reaching upwards of 130,000 hits per day – not a bad number for a first-year charity based in NZ - The Junk Free June platform is without question, a prime example of our world-class production capabilities.
Simple account creation and customisation
All Junk Free June ‘campaigns’ or accounts are registered on the official website. As of mid-June 2015 over 5,000+ accounts, including individual and group accounts, were registered on the site with an estimated 20,000+ participating in the challenge nationally. Users are able to customise their fundraising ‘goal’, bio, image and more on the site and share their unique pages across any digital channel that they want to. Participants can of course view all the prizes they’ve unlocked and see what’s next!
Hundreds of thousands of dollars processed
The Junk Free June website shows what great user interface design can do for conversions. A simple donation process makes donating directly to the charity simple and convenient for users. As of mid-June 2015, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been processed via the site, 100% of which go straight to the Cancer Society of New Zealand, who are overwhelmed with the positive response from the public and performance of the campaign. With international expansion planned for 2016 plus new and exciting features and functions to release, the Junk Free June website will be continually optimised and upgraded each year. Thanks to the scalability, flexibility and customisability of the SilverStripe CMS, managing the website content was an absolute breeze.
